The Fourth GOTEX International Textile And Garment Procurement ExhibitionSt PaulBrazil

As the fifth largest textile industry in the world, the textile industry in Brazil has a history of 200 years. It is one of the few countries in the world that has a complete industrial chain from raw material cultivation to garment processing.

The number of practitioners in the textile and garment industry ranks second among industries in Brazil, attracting a large number of labor force, especially female labor force.

However, the industry is facing difficulties.

According to Brazil media reports, in 2014, Brazil's clothing output dropped by 2%, textile production decreased by 5%, and the export of textile and garment industry dropped by 6.7%.

In contrast, the import of the industry is rising.

The increasing deficit between imports and exports is considered to be the main performance of Brazil's textile and garment industry in recession.

The fourth GOTEX international textile and apparel Procurement Exhibition was held in St Paul, Brazil recently. Hundreds of textile and garment enterprises and industry advisory organizations from 6 countries such as China and Brazil participated.

On the first day of the exhibition, the reporter met Milene Brunadi, who came to pick fabrics from a fabric booth of a Chinese company.

She is a family in St Paul.

Clothing company

The staff of her company purchases many textile fabrics from China every year.

In recent years, China has become one of the major importing countries in Brazil's textile and garment industry. Bilateral trade is now the main form of cooperation between the two countries.

At the exhibition, China and Pakistan related enterprises and experts interviewed believe that based on the strong complementarity of the Sino Pakistan textile and garment industry, the two countries should complement each other and develop more cooperative ways to promote the common development of the textile and garment industry of the two countries.

"The price is cheap, the color and quality are good."

Brunet Di explained to reporters that she preferred the main reasons for making China.

"Compared with the past few years, the quality of China's textile fabrics is much better now. We especially like China's chemical fiber fabrics."

China has become Brazil

Textile and clothing

One of the most important importers of the industry.

According to a data from the Brazil Textile Industry Association, the import volume of the textile and garment industry in Brazil reached US $5 billion 850 million in 2015, of which about half were from China, especially fabrics, one of the organizers of the exhibition and vice general manager of China (Brazil) investment development and Trade Center.

Pan invented

Say.

At the GOTEX exhibition site, the exhibition area of Shanghai Textile Holding (Group) Co., Ltd. is located in the most prominent position of the exhibition hall entrance. The exhibition area is the one hundred or two hundred men's and women's garments that they brought from China.

Taking into account the aesthetic preferences of local consumers in Brazil, clothing is mostly colourful and bold.

This is the fourth time that the group has participated in the exhibition, and the history of Shanghai's textile and Brazil dealings can be traced back to more than 20 years ago.

"Shanghai textile has six major divisions overseas, and Brazil and Latin America are among them. The form of cooperation includes textile and garment trade and investment."

Zhang Shijun, general manager of Shanghai textile and Latin America, said, "textile and clothing products from Asian countries including China are increasingly appearing in the Brazil market. The main reason is that the production cost of the industry in Brazil is too high and can only meet the market demand through imports."

Pakistan's foreign factors are mainly East Asian products, which have price advantages compared with Brazil's local manufacturing, while domestic factors are Brazil's high taxes, backward infrastructure and the lack of high level industrial workers.

Taking the tax burden as an example, the textile industry in Brazil has been subject to multiple taxation, and the taxes and fees are up to 18%.

"If the price of Brazil products is competitive, the taxes and fees can not exceed 10% at most," said Daniel Sousa, a professor at the Department of economics of Santa Catarina State University.

All kinds of unfavorable factors interweave together, pointing to the same result: Brazil textile and apparel industry has high price and poor competitiveness, and at the same time, it lacks investment to promote industrial upgrading.
